A A A

I first joined the Hands And Voices Choir by mistake we turned up at The Early Music Centre by only to find a session was in progress which turned out to be Hands and Voices. At the very end of the evening one of the ladies said have you enjoyed yourself Patrick I said yes she said you are in then and I have enjoyed it ever since. On 29th April until 6th   I went to Blackpool for a week with my friends which weas good fun sd we went to the Beetles Museum we looked round the Museum which I fouung really interesting.

The leader saidcoff

On Saturday afternoon I went to a Jumblance in Stockton on Forest in which loads of people attended.

There was loads of food on and there was a brass band playing.

The surprise was to round off the 1st part of the concert which was Generation, Groove the lady conductor said I know a certain young man who likes this track, at the chorus you have to do 4 things with your hands. Then I knew my favourite song was coming, the band played it and I thought it's my favourite song Y.M.C.A and in the middle of the concert there was a raffle announced by Dad but we did not win.

In part 2 the Brass Band did The Time Warp and right at the end the conductor said If we play Y.M.C.A again would you all join in?

After the party, we took my friend Home then we went home.

On Saturday afternoon I went to meet my friend at Marks and Spencers in Town, where I had coffee and biscuits, Mum and my friend’s carer left us alone 4 a catch-up and we chattered about loads of things and my favourite saying now I was cooking on gas with news for her and we talked about the Jumbalance get together at my friends Mums house which is next Saturday that is the 1st of July.

After a long time Mum came back and we went to look around a few shops.

Hello Patrick from a learning support tutor who I knew from York College, and I wrote on my Lightwriter what her name was.

Tea tonight was meatballs.

Yesterday Dad and me went to Church, which was a very good service.

Disaster blanch Disaster as for the 1st time ever there was no hot drinks on because there was a Parish Barbecue so we went 2 Waitrose and we had a sausage sandwich lunch.

Then it was Home for an afternoon in, doing my diary.

On Saturday it was the Hands And Voices Busking at Sainsburys that was really well.

Lots of people came to watch us perform.

My favourite song that I enjoyed doing was Build Me Up Buttercup.

After our 1st set we went upstairs and had a drink.

It was the 1st time ever that my support worker has come to c us with her little baby Rowan don’t spoil it Rowan please?

After the performance we went up for lunch followed by The Hands And Voices staff.

Thankyou to all the Hands and Voices members who turned up it was the most fantastic day ever.

From last Thursday 9th February until yesterday afternoon 12th February, I was in Babes In The Wood at English Martyrs Church Hall, Dalton Terrace, York. Lots of people came to see me including some surprise guests including a couple who I know from one of my clubs which was a surprise to me.

I have kept my part as a mystery for so long, but at long long last I can let the cat of the bag. I was Bingo and the villain only yesterday people booed 1 of the other actors and not me.

The performances of my pantomime were last Thursday and Friday at 7.30pm and Saturday and yesterday at 2.30pm and I never ever forgot a line.

At the after show party yesterday afternoon I even made a speech thanking all the actors for a wonderful 2 months of performances.

So after 4 months at last next week I have Sunday afternoons free which I have missed.

Tomorrow and on one Tuesday every month Me and my assistant will be doing The Climbing Wall at Energise from 10.am until 12.pm which is a brilliant skill for me as I can use both my arms and legs

I have been telling most people about it and last Friday I even put it on Facebook.

Another achievement Mum or Dad never thought I had with my memory I can tell people the day that their birthdays are on if they can tell me the dates of them.

On 23rd August we were out at the Crystal Palace Pub, for a leaving do and I just announced it people told me the dates of their birthdays and I told them what days they were on this year and they said How did you work it out Patrick?

Next Monday I will be able to write about my experience the climbing wall.

By Patrick.

From 9th to 12th Febuary I am in a pantomime called Babes In The Wood at English Martyrs Church Hall, Dalton Terrace, York.

We're rehearsing for it on a Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm and it's going really really well.

All I can say about my character is it's Bingo, but Im not allowed to say anything else.

It will be very good!

From 2nd until 5th December me and a couple of friends will be going to Blackpool back to the Bond Hotel in Blackpool for a Turkey and Tinsel weekend. We're going on a coach called a Jumbulance, which is a cross between a bus and an ambulance.
We will also be going  to the Blackpool Tower to see a pantomime and Christmas shopping.

There is entertainment and dancing every evening so I have got to stay up and dance I am taking my electric chair.

When Mum asked me a few weeks ago Patrick who would you like to be your main carer I said a straight forward you because you know me really really well rather then having to explain my needs to another carer.

It will be a really really really good weekend and I am looking forward to it very much indeed.

On Friday 29th April some of us met at Saint Georges Field and we set off for The Bond Hotel Blackpool stopping to collect 1 more person from Heartshead Services. When we got to the hotel it was welcome drinks followed by tea followed by entertainment I sat with my friend On Saturday was no rest as we set off for The Beetles Museum and we were on the Jumbulance for a really really long time.

When we finally got off the coach we looked round the Museum which was interesting. When we got back was there a rest? No straight into tea. There was entertainment again tonight which was good. On Sunday we all went on a boat trip I sat with my friend although it was 10.30am to 3pm yikes. Coffee was served on the boat but an assistant sat next to me. We were back on the coach and back to the hotel. I had my 3rd glass of Baileys tonight.

On Monday Disaster Blanch Disaster as the coach tail lift broke down so we got a tram into Town and explored. We went to a café for lunch sausage sandwiches. While sitting I said to the organiser could I make a speech on Thursday? She was over the moon Patrick of course. We didn’t have a choice but to walk back.

On Tuesday was good as we walked all the way to the Tower Ballroom to see Strictly Come Dancing we had lunch there a sandwich. In the afternoon we all went to the Circus which was fun. The leader had hoped the drivers would ring but no so we walked all the way back.

There was entertainment again tonight.

On Wednesday we went to a market on 2 minibuses as still no Jumbulance but it was a very very long way. We had a look round then it was coffee time. After coffee I brought some ear muffs because we were going on the steam train

For lunch I sat with 3 of my holiday friends After a long journey back I attempted to go to my room but my helper said Patrick we have to go down for tea. I sat on another table.

Tonight it was a different entertainer when it was finished it was bingo time again I won.

On Thursday I made sure I was not dressed in my pyjama trousers. For our last activity we went to the Wetlands Centre on the other bus. After coffee we went on a boat trip. At evening meal time I made a speech thanking everyone for a wonderful holiday then it was raffle time I won. On Friday we had to be out of our rooms by 10. After Hartshead drop off we were back at Saint Georges Field before parents even arrived.

My achievement.

By Patrick.

18th April 2016.

Last Thursday Me and my assistant went Swimming at York Sports Village that is on Hull Road,

Usually 1 of my assistants holds an item called a woggle for me, not last Thursday.

My assistant just let go of me and I swam entirely on my own 'You must want to get out Patrick?', 'No', 'now?' 'No', 'now?' 'No?' 'now?' 'No.'

I was so proud of this achievement that when I got home I put it on Facebook for all my Facebook friends to read.

I am still proud of this achievement and this very morning I announced it and I got a round of applause.

I first learnt to walk in water at the Barbican Centre when I went on a Sunday afternoon with a group called Link to Life, Mum was over the moon - that means really pleased.

I am going with my assistant, my friend, and his assistant to York Sports Village in the morning, and I am going to do the same in the morning. And again on Thursday.

On Saturday night I went to a Jumbulance Re union at Wiggington Farm Shop in which there was lots of people there. The meal was wonderful there was Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, gravy - although not ‘Good Gravy’ and there was a raffle to which I won a brass band CD. Who’s going to mention about the nuts Patrick? as Elizabeth isn’t here? I sat next to my friend Claire Houseman and her assistant Bridget who looked after me. The leader Christine said to Mum it’s so lovely that Patrick is coming to Blackpool with us from 29th April until 6th May but Patrick you must not go to bed at 8.30pm there’s a Disco every night and night life. It was a really really really good night and my thanks to Christine for organising such a wonderful event on Saturday. I really enjoyed the evening very very much.

Pat Hippo

On Christmas Eve we went to Calucchio’s for breakfast with friends and then Dad pushed me to the toy department, but he pushed me so I couldn’t see. The lady said a bit loudly it’s not a pig it’s a hippopotamus! Dad said SSHH! - don’t let him hear as it’s for tomorrow. The next afternoon when I opened Dads present I was gobsmacked as it was a hippopotamus and later during the meal we played the Hands & Voices ‘I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas’ song for everyone. The reason behind this is in our Hands and Voices Busking sessions we have been rehearsing and singing I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. It was my 2nd best Christmas present ever and I’m taking this most places with me as it is the best Christmas present ever!

On Saturday I went into Town with Mum and Dad for breakfast in Calchios and to start my Christmas Shopping it was stowed off again luckily I was in my manual chair, which I was glad of!

It was not a pleasant experience so we went for a Marks and Spencer’s dee caff coffee and not even a Hello Patrick. That day I was very lucky to get out of Town.

It should be one of the Dads music group tomorrow and there will be no more baptisms never say never! Then yesterday - excuse me when I consulted the car park we couldn’t get in at all and had to park on the road there was a baptism!

We didn’t know about it yet again did we?

Have you only just remembered we are on coffee duty Patrick? I forgot not.

We stopped at the co-op had lunch then I did my diary

The end.

My weekend.

On Saturday I had a quiet morning at Home.

In the afternoon we went into town but paving stones I held onto my chest as I thought Im about to go.

Patrick we are not having another coffee stop until we get to Waitrose and we are keeping  costs down in the future.

Then I chose my  own tea at Marks and Spencers which was a Lamb Hotpot  Yum Yum.

More tomorrow.

Yesterday Me and Mum went to Our Ladies Church in Acomb which was a Harvest Festival Mass.

The bit I was interested in was at the end of Mass all the people who had birthdays came on the alter and we all sang to them.

Then we had coffee in the Parish Hall with many Hello Patricks as per usual.

In the car  I said to Mum I really enjoyed that  I would like to go on the last Sunday of every month.

In the afternoon I did my diary with lots of jokes.

Grandad came for tea as per usual with my favourite food sausages and Mum read my diary out to Dad and Grandad.

The end.

Patrick on holiday in Holland

On 10th May we all met at St Georges Field to get on the Jumbulance ready to travel down to Hull to get on the overnight ferry the ferry was enormous but what I didn't understand was my electric chair was left on the Jumbulance we got settled into our cabins and when we woke up on Monday 11th May we were in Holland.

We stopped for lunch but I was once again left on the Jumbalance I was about to say something.

We arrived at Hotel Joan De Reaper after lunch and saw our rooms and in the evening someone said I remember from last year Patrick you like Baileys. On the Tuesday we went to Ze Fe museum to see the windmills and have a coffee and lunch.

But oh dear Patrick we went to a cafe for lunch bang bang bang and there was a lot of disabled people so I said lets go to the shop since when have you been in charge Patrick Corker.

When Elizabeth sat next to me on the coach one of the drivers said sitting with your Boyfriend Elizabeth?

On Wednesday we went to a museum again for a look round and a coffee but it was busy and had lunch then another look round.

Then it was back on the coach and back to our hotel for a nap before tea but the thing that made me cross was there was no choices unlike Scotland. On Thursday we went to another museum for a look round and a coffee of course a coffee and lunch and a wander around with Francis and Barbara who were my helpers.

PatHolland2

Christine said to me Im really glad we managed to bring this chair Patrick. Brendon was waiting to load me on and we went back to our Hotel.

Would someone tonight please give me the choices of tea? No.

On Friday we went to Almeer Cheese Market which was stowed off meaning very very busy So I decided yet again to go for coffee and lunch I talked to Francis and Barbara.

Then we went to a pub for lunch which took forever and a day to arrive we loaded and in no time at all we were back at our Hotel.

On Saturday we went to a museum but it was stowed off so Francis had to put me on manual it was lunch and at 330pm it was the boat trip yet again I had to change chairs.

It was the party night so I did my poem I Often Wish If I Were Rich. On Sunday 17th May We went to a pottery morning followed by the long journey back to the ferry.

They must have been listening as sausages were for tea.

On Monday we were back in England and back to Saint Georges Field lots of goodbyes Francis and Barbara came to my car to say goodbye.

Patrick meeting the John Lewis Cafe Manager

This is a picture of me meeting the manager of John Lewis last year.

On Saturday 11th April Hands and Voices, which is a singing and signing choir, will be Busking at John Lewis between 11.am and 1.pm to celebrate the stores 1st year of opening and the High Sheriff will be there - come and see it it will be really good.

I remember last year on Thursday 10th April I helped with the opening of the above store but I had to get up at 6.am in the morning. When it got to 9-o clock we were all gathered outside and a member of the John Lewis staff cut the ribbon. Afterwards me, Mum and 2 of the workers who I opened the store with went upstairs to the restaurant and to celebrate my achievements that morning I was treated to a free sausage sandwich because sausages are my favorite food.

When I got Home I felt very, very tired.

Patrick as 'Bingo'

From 5th February to Yesterday 8th February I was in a pantomime called Dick Whittington at English Martyrs Church Hall Dalton Terrace York and loads of people came to see it and my character was Bingo because of the way that my Lightwriter says it don't be so nervous about it Patrick please?

Everybody who came to see it enjoyed it very much indeed.

My favourite character was Queen Rat wonderfully played by Annie Johnson and my favourite scene the cooking sketch and one of the actors made me laugh with the line don't worry boys and girls she's got nothing to do with the cakes for your half time reas

Especially at my bit everybody laughed because I was so funny.

At the end of every performance all my friends came up to me and said you were a great performer Patrick I loved it when you sent Dick the wrong way to London.

After yesterdays performance as it was the last 1 it was the tea in the small hall followed by a speech made by Queen Rat and the presentations to the director who also gave a speech.

My Thanks go to Keith Dunsire and Annie Johnson for a wonderful 4 days performances.
