Description:

Concessionary travel by rail is available. By getting a Disabled Persons Railcard the user can travel throughout Great Britain with or without a carer. Both tickets have a 1/3 reduction on the standard prices. The fare includes assistance by rail staff in getting on and off the train/s. You can apply online from their website.

Description:

British Red Cross provide door-to-door transport for people who cannot get about easily, restoring their freedom and independence.

Coastliner logo

Description:

The Coastliner runs services between Leeds, York and the coasts of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington on the East Coast of Yorkshire. They operate frequent services between Leeds, Tadcaster, York and Heworth, with 4 buses an hour most of the day on Mondays to Saturdays. These buses are wheelchair accessible and accept the concessionary Bus Pass which enables the user and a carer to travel free of charge.

Dial & Ride logo

Description:

Dial & Ride is a flexible door-to-door bus service for residents who find it difficult to use normal buses due to age or mobility problems. Dial & Ride serves popular destinations such as major supermarkets, shopping centres and York city centre. Buses will collect you from your doorstep and drop you back at home. Times and days of operation, and destinations served, vary according to which area of York you live in. All buses are specially adapted for wheelchair users and for those that have difficulty walking.

Streamline Taxi logo

Description:

Streamline are a taxi service based in York with 20% of their vehicles wheelchair accessible. The drivers have completed a disability awareness course enabling them to assist you and make your journey carefree. Between 1 and 5 wheelchairs can be carried at any one time depending on the vehicle requested. Please book in advance where possible, so that they can provide the most suited vehicle and service to you.

York First Buses logo

Description:

All First Buses are wheelchair accessible. (This includes electric wheelchairs). If the wheelchair user has a Bus Pass, they can travel free throughout York and the surropunding areas. When filling the form for the pass, the user can request that a carer be included on the pass. A carer can thus travel free also. The Bus Pass is free and lasts for five years.

York Pullman Bus Company is the largest privately owned coach and bus operator in York, operating a fleet of over 40 vehicles from it’s base in Rufforth. The company provides a diverse range of passenger transport services. These include school transport, private hire and conference work as well as operating numerous coach trips into Europe for skiing, sightseeing and educational visits. Description:

York Wheels is a voluntary organisation which provides a transport service for those, who because of age, disabilty or other special circumstances find that they cannot access public transport. They offer a friendly door-to-door service. Drivers will always make sure customers get home safely. The service is only available by booking in advance and can normally be used between 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday. At weekends the number of drivers is limited, so early booking is recommended.
