Special Olympics City of York

Special Olympics Great Britain is part of the world's largest programme of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with learning disabilities. It currently serves over 8,000 athletes who participate in local sports programmes, then regional, national and international competitions. The National Games are held every 2 years alternating between summer and winter games and then World Games every 4 years.

The Special Olympics City of York committee was established in 2007. We are made up of local athletes with learning disabilities, parents of athletes, and other volunteers who all want to make a difference. We are primarily responsible for organising, promoting and running regular training sessions and supporting young people and adults with learning disabilities. This enables them to compete at their level in local, regional and national competitions.
